Assistive Technology & the IEP
Presented by ADAP and STAR Training

ADAP (Alabama Disability Advocacy Program) polled parents in September 2012 to determine if Assistive Technology (AT) was being appropriately addressed through the IEP process. Results indicated that many parents were unaware that AT was required to be considered and how it could be implemented.

As Alabama's state AT program and the federal tech act program, one of STAR's goals is to provide training on legislation, including IDEA which requires schools to provide AT devices and services to maximize accessibility for children with disabilities.

STAR collaborates with T.A.S.C. (Technology Assistance for Special Consumers) to provide onsite and virtual trainings.
