FREE Trainings at ATEC (from PRC & Saltillo)



Introduction to LAMP Words for Life for Accent
(0.3 ASHA CEUs provided)
Thursday, March 12th from 1 - 4 p.m.
Location: ATEC
Cost: FREE
Description: In this three-hour course, participants will learn about the LAMP WFL vocabularies, programming and customizing those vocabularies and basic implementation strategies. The difference between LAMP and LAMP WFL will be discussed as well as the three levels of LAMP WFL-84 1-hit, 84 transition and 84 full. The first segment will cover customizing and adding words to the vocabulary. A variety of tools and strategies for teaching WFL will be reviewed. Hands-on practice in encouraged throughout the course, so come prepared to learn and practice. This course is intended for people who are currently using or interested in learning more about the LAMP Words for Life vocabulary on either an Accent device or the LAMP WFL iPad app. This course briefly discusses the LAMP approach but it is not a LAMP training. 

AAC Teaching Strategies

Tuesday, April 7th from 12 - 1:30 p.m.

Description: This seminar will offer practical teaching strategies to use when working with someone who is learning language with AAC. It will cover a variety of topics including: providing time to explore, immediate responses, teaching multiple meanings of words and making learning language fun. Participants will learn quick and easy strategies that can be used routinely during AAC intervention. Therapy ideas and video examples are provided throughout. Strategies presented in this course are not device specific. This course is relevant for anyone who is working with a child who uses a communication device.

Project: Communicate (TASK, Ahaheim)

TASK in Anaheim is THRILLED to announce Project: Communicate! 


This project is made possible through a generous grant from the Disability Communications Fund. The purpose of Project:Communicate! is to provide communication options for persons with language impairments through hands-on access, assessments, training, support and recommendations. 

Through Project: Communicate, we will offer low/no cost AAC assessments, free one-hour AAC consultations, and hands-on access and trials of various dedicated communication devices and iPads with specialized communication apps. We will also be establishing a group for functional and social communication support and offering FREE AAC and communication workshops each quarter in all of TASK's major service regions. We are excited to be able to bring you this service!

Materials will be translated to Spanish very shortly.

Registration is now open for the 8 Day AT Specialist Certificate Program through the West San Gabriel SELPA presented by Susan Simmons and Associates.

There are only 15 spaces and it is only offered once a year.

One day workshops cap at about 30, multi-day workshops have 15-20 participants. This really makes them very personal & interactive. Building capacity takes attention and engagement.
