CSUN 2013: Hands-On Tools and Strategies (RAST)

Many thanks to this fabulous panel of Bay-area presenters that shared their Resources for AAC Strategies and Tools (RAST) with the lot of us at the CSUN AT conference on February 28. Support offered by Saltillo.

Their RAST binder included easy-to-use forms in each of these areas:
  • Technical supports and reference guides
  • Team building supports
  • User competencies, profiles and goal bank
  • Teaching tools
  • Partner Strategies
I personally loved the forms that included the serial number for the device, phone number for tech support, and a communication log for description of the problem, date of fix, and fix enacted. What a time saver in the case of repeat issues!
Another great idea - Vocabulary Inventories
Here are two options for recording vocabulary to be used in a given activity or task in order to support paraprofessionals and others in their prompting of communication across activities.
