Dr. Blackstone is former president of ISAAC, a USSAAC founder  and serves on the Board of Directors of The Bridge School in California and the ISAAC council. She is also a participant in the AAC-RERC. She has authored multiple texts in the AAC field and was editor of the ISAAC Series. She is a Fellow of ISAAC and a recipient of ISAAC's Distinguished Service Award, USSAAC's Award of Professional Excellence, and the ASHA DeCarlo Award for Clinical Achievement (Maryland).
