FREE Workshop - AAC Competencies
If you live or work with someone that uses Augmentative and Alternative
Communication you may have heard or even used the term "AAC
Competencies" without really understanding the impact on growth each
area has in the life of the AAC user. This workshop will provide instruction
in understanding, monitoring and promoting all 5, operational, linguistic,
social, strategic, and emotional competencies for AAC users with various
levels of function and ability.

All of a sudden. . .POOF. . .it seems like everyone has a tablet. Using iPads (smart phones and other devices) have become a “big deal” for individuals on the autism spectrum - but there must be more than Angry Birds or Candy Crush. The most common question is “What apps should I get?” We know that visual strategies are very helpful for these students and apps are visual so it makes sense to explore the possibilities. The challenge is figuring out what you can do with the technology besides play games. What do you want to accomplish with the device? How do you sort through a million apps and what should you look for? In this program we will focus on 5 key skill areas that apps can help preschoolers, school age and adults participate in life activities working toward achieving more independence.
